No lens shading, no dark corners, decent image quality, it just works. It is another cost-effective choice that adds up to your Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera Module.

In case you didn't know, HQ camera module is capable of delivering 12MP of a picture with the SONY IMX477 image sensor. The body is an industry milled aluminum lens mount with an integrated 1.4"-20 tripod mount and a focus adjustment ring that is compatible with C or CS mount lens. 

The HQ Camera Module comes WITHOUT Lens

Here is some info about C-mount and CS-mount from meijitechno.com:

"C- and CS-mount lenses are both threaded lens mounts found on most industrial CCD cameras and lenses. The difference between C and CS-mount equipment is the distance between the flange of the lens (the part of the case that butts up against the camera) and the focal plane of the lens (where the CCD sensor must be positioned). This is known as the flange back distance.

The C-mount lens specification for flange back distance is 17.53 mm, and on CS-mount lenses, it is 12.53 mm. If you have a CS-mount camera and a C-mount lens, you can add a 5mm spacer to obtain the correct focus. If, however, you have a C-mount camera and a CS-mount lens, the correct focus cannot be achieved."

If you are using a CS-Mount lens, the adapter must be removed. However, for C-Mount lenses, the C-Mount adapter is a must-have. Sometimes if you are still not able to focus a C-Mount camera even after the adapter is on, adjust the back focus. The gear-like ring on the main housing of the camera module is the back-focus adjustment ring, and you can spin it to alter the distance between the bottom of the lens and the IMX477 image sensor.

Once you’ve mounted the lens on, you will have to face the various kinds of handles on the ring of the lens. Typically, every C/CS-Mount comes with a focus ring, and many come with an aperture ring, while few may include a zoom ring. The trick to adjusting theses rings is you only tweak one ring at a time with the others fixed. Otherwise, they will move each other and ruin your last adjustment.
